12.5.11 New York Chapter Kick Off

On Monday, December 5, 2011, the Prosecutors Committee of The Asian American Bar Association of New York and the National Asian Pacific Islander American Prosecutors’ Association had their kickoff and membership drive event.   Well over 60 people showed up, including current members of the Prosecutors committee, alumni of N.Y.C. prosecutors of Asian descent, current and just graduated Asian American law students aspiring to be prosecutors, and members of AABANY.  The event was fittingly held at Manchester Pub at 920 Second Ave in Manhattan, a hopping and cozy location with delicious appetizers and fabulous drinks that didn’t break the bank.  It was a lively event, where past present and future met.  Current and former prosecutors from the five boroughs and the Attorney General’s office reconnected and made new friendships and were introduced to the many young and aspiring prosecutors taking time off from finals to unwind.  The night was also a benefit event for the New York Asian Woman’s Center, a non-profit advocacy organization for victims of domestic violence.   There were bags and bags of donations such as foods and toiletries collected.  The energy was palpable throughout the night, and served as a terrific springboard for NAPIPA and NY Prosecutors Committee inaugural event.
